Bring Projects From Other Editors
Import past projects from CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, and Remotion into Klipeo with Settings > Migrate.
Settings > Migrate turns a project from another editor into a Klipeo project. Each timeline becomes a composition with its clips, trims, track order, titles, and basic position and scale in place. Anything Klipeo can't carry over is listed after the import, item by item.
What you can import
| From | What to open | What comes in |
|---|---|---|
| CapCut | A draft folder | Video, photo, and audio clips, trims, speed, volume, text, position, scale, rotation, and opacity |
| DaVinci Resolve | An FCPXML file (File › Export › Timeline… › FCPXML) | Clips on every video lane, connected clips, audio, titles, transforms, and volume |
| Final Cut Pro | An FCPXML file or .fcpxmld bundle | Same as Resolve |
| Premiere Pro | A Final Cut Pro XML file (File › Export › Final Cut Pro XML…) | Clips on every track, separate audio, text generators, Basic Motion, opacity, and audio levels |
| Remotion | The repository folder | Each <Composition> and <Still> as a composition with the same size, frame rate, and length |
Resolve's project library and .drp archives, and Premiere's .prproj files,
use private formats. Klipeo lists them so you can find them, and tells you which
export to make instead.
In the Mac app
The Mac app looks for projects in the usual places when you open the page:
- CapCut drafts in
~/Movies/CapCut/User Data/Projects/com.lveditor.draft - Resolve projects in Resolve's project library
- FCPXML, Premiere XML,
.prproj, and.drpfiles in Movies, Documents, Desktop, and Downloads (four folders deep)
Choose Scan again after you export something new. Use Open project or library… for a project stored anywhere else.
The Mac app reads each project's media straight from your disk and keeps it on this Mac, like any media you add in the Mac app, so there is no upload size limit. It only reads files the project itself points to.
In a browser
Choose Open project or library… and pick a folder: a CapCut draft folder, a folder of exports, or a folder holding several projects. Choose files… picks individual project and media files instead.
A browser can't follow the file paths stored in a project, so Klipeo finds each clip's media by file name among the files you picked. Pick the folder that holds the media too. Media uploads to your cloud; a file over the 2 GB upload limit stays on this device.
Import
- Filter by editor with All, CapCut, Resolve, or Premiere, search by name, or sort by Last edited or Name.
- Tick the projects you want, or the box at the top to select all of them.
- Choose Import N projects.
Each row shows its progress. When it finishes, the import report has an Open project link for each one, and a list of what did not translate.
What does not translate
Klipeo keeps the clip and leaves out what it can't rebuild, then names it in the report so you can redo it:
- Transitions, effects, filters, masks, and stickers
- Keyframes: the clip keeps its first value
- Speed curves and variable speed: the clip plays at one constant speed
- Compound, multicam, and nested sequence clips: flatten them first
- Media that is missing, offline, or from an editor's online library
- Fonts: titles use Klipeo's default font
A Remotion project's React components are not converted. Each composition opens as a canvas of the same size and frame rate, with a marker at its length.
