Zoom, Speed & Trim Regions

Drop a region on the timeline to punch in, change speed, or mark a cut, without splitting your clips.

Regions are spans you lay over the timeline to change how a stretch plays, without cutting your clips apart. There are three kinds, plus bookmarks.

Zoom regions

A zoom region punches the camera in for a stretch of time. Add one at the playhead (the Z key, or the Add zoom button in the timeline header) and it starts 1.5 s long at depth 3. Drag its edges to change how long it lasts and set how far it pushes in.

The zoom depth runs from 1 to 6:

DepthZoom
11.25x
21.5x
31.8x (default)
42.2x
53.5x
65.0x

You set the focus point by dragging, so the zoom lands on the face or the part of the screen that matters.

Suggest zooms proposes punch-ins for you, but it needs cursor data to work from. Until you've made a screen recording in Klipeo the button is greyed out and reads "Record to enable auto-zoom."

Speed regions

A speed region changes playback speed over a stretch. Drop one (the R key, or Add speed region) and it starts 1.5 s long at 2x. Pick any rate from 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, or 2x. Use slow speeds for a slow-motion beat and fast ones to skip through the boring parts. You can keep audio pitch steady or let it shift with the speed.

Trim regions

A trim region (the X key, Add cut region) marks a 1 s stretch to remove. It shows as a striped span on the timeline, so you can see what's going before you commit. It keeps your clips whole while you decide.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks are points, not spans. Press T to drop one at the playhead, and click any bookmark to jump there. Klipeo also adds them automatically at scene cuts and silences when it analyzes a clip, so a fresh import already has useful markers.

Regions are non-destructive

Zoom, speed, and trim regions sit on top of your clips. Drag them, resize them, or delete them any time. Nothing about your source media changes, so you can experiment freely.
