Crop & Resize

Reframe a video or image for any platform, with presets for the sizes people actually post.

Crop & Resize takes video and images. It has two workflows, picked with the two buttons at the top of the page.

  • Video crop editor takes a video only. You drag a crop frame over the picture and watch it play while you do.
  • Quick image or video resize takes a video or an image and asks for a width, a height, and how to fit the picture into them.

Video crop editor

Pick a Platform, then a Platform size under Resize for. The presets cover Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, plus Custom size.

Custom size gives you width and height fields and an Aspect ratio dropdown:

AspectSize
16:91920 × 1080
4:31440 × 1080
1:11080 × 1080
4:51080 × 1350
9:161080 × 1920

Drag a width or height field to scrub its value, or click it to type. Hold Shift for larger steps or Alt for smaller steps. The link button keeps the aspect ratio; turn it off to set width and height independently. Both dimensions stay between 2 and 4096 pixels.

Fill or Fit

Crop options switches between the two ways of getting the picture into that box.

  • Fill crops. Drag and zoom the frame over the source, and everything outside it is discarded. The panel shows the current zoom and a Reset button.
  • Fit shrinks the whole frame to fit and pads the leftover space. Background chooses what fills that space: a color, from five swatches or a custom color picker, or a blurred copy of your own footage with a 0 to 100 Blur intensity scrub field.

Drag the crop frame to move it or its handles to resize it. With the frame or a handle focused, use the arrow keys to adjust it; hold Shift for a larger step. Press Space outside controls to play or pause, and use Preview position to seek. On a phone, open Edit for settings.

Output

Format is MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, or GIF. The one matching your source file is marked Original. MP4, MOV, and MKV are H.264 video with AAC audio at 192 kbps; MP4 and MOV also get the moov atom up front. WebM is VP9 with Opus. GIF uses the selected output dimensions at 12 fps with no audio. The video crop editor rounds each dimension to the nearest even pixel, with half steps rounded up.

The panel shows an estimated output size before you export. Press Export video, then name and download the result. Use Replace video to choose another source.

Quick image or video resize

Set Output width in pixels and Output height in pixels. Both accept 2 to 4096.

Framing has two values:

  • Center crop scales the source up until it covers the box, then crops the middle.
  • Fit with black padding scales the source down until it fits, then pads with black.

Output formats depend on what you uploaded. Images export as PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Videos export as MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, or GIF.

Press Resize file, then preview and download the result. Replace chooses another source.

Video dimensions are rounded down to even numbers

H.264 and VP9 need even pixel dimensions, so a video export rounds your width and height down to the nearest even number. Image exports use the exact numbers you typed.

Limits

  • You need to be signed in. It does not spend credits.
  • Uploads are capped at 50 MB.
  • The quick resize path allows up to 5 exports per minute.
  • Export runs on the server, not in your browser. The quick resize path stops at 4 minutes and 512 MB of output.
  • Quick resize strips the source file's metadata from the export.
